VA Tech- Bush is despicable
Ok, so I just wrote about Fox's poor choice of timing, that was before I was alerted to this wonderful article. I don't even need to add commentary about how disgusting this is and how truly heartless President' Bush is.
"He was horrified and his immediate reaction was one of deep concern for the families of the victims, the victims themselves, the students, the professors and all the people of Virginia who have dealt with this shocking incident," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said. "His thoughts and prayers are with them.""The president believes that there is a right for people to bear arms, but that all laws must be followed," Perino said, noting that Bush and Education Secretary Margaret Spellings held a conference on school gun violence last October. "Certainly, bringing a gun into a school dormitory and shooting ... is against the law and something someone should be held accountable for," Perino said.
Stations on tragedy
I'm writing about the network news coverage of the Virginia Tech shooting today. First let me say this is a horrible tragedy and my hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families as well as those who are injured and i hope for their recovery.
Something was bothering me about the coverage of the situation. Maybe its being a journalism student that has clued me into this a bit more than anyone else, but... I was trying to watch a program on Fox, when they went to their special alert. They flashed the fox 9 logo for near a minute, then flashed it again for another 10, then said it when they came on. Now, I don't mean to nitpick, but if its an important report, shouldn't you just jump right into it rather than show your logo for a long time? This just smacked me as wrong, and i wanted to write about it. Thats all.

The DFL has not issued a press release yet, but they have begun to pass around job postings for both communications director positions.
